These 15-day bird photography tours are ideal for those who enjoy continuous variation and discovery. By changing lodges every two days, each located in a different habitat, you experience a wide range of environments, from mangroves and wetlands to rice fields and open savanna areas.
This regular change creates new photographic perspectives and keeps each day fresh and engaging. Familiar species appear in different surroundings, while new species are added along the way, resulting in a richly varied photographic journey.

On this tour, we explore alternative habitats and lodges. We never stay more than two nights in the same lodge, ensuring maximum opportunities to observe and photograph a wide variety of bird species.

Day 1: Arrival and Exploration of the Tanbi Wetlands
Upon arrival in Banjul, you will travel to the charming Mandinari River Lodge, where you can explore the stunning surroundings of the Tanbi Wetlands and the lodge's lush garden. This tranquil natural area provides a perfect start for bird photographers.
Day 2: Walk Through the Mandinari Wetlands
In the morning, enjoy a walk through the mangroves, rice fields, and wetlands. In the afternoon, we visit bird hotspots featuring birds of prey, ideal for capturing impressive photographs.
Day 3: Journey to Tendaba Camp and Farasutu Forest
After a delightful breakfast, we depart for Tendaba Camp. Along the way, we visit the bird-rich Farasutu Forest and several other hotspots. In the afternoon, we explore one of the bird hides at the camp.
Day 4: Boat Tour and Kwinella Bush Track
The morning begins with a scenic boat trip along the Gambia River. In the afternoon, we visit the Kwinella bush track, a location where nature and wildlife come together beautifully.
Day 5: Wetlands and Kakuba Garden Hotel
Today, we travel to the Kakuba Garden Hotel, making stops along the way at expansive wetlands and rice fields. In the afternoon, you will explore the hotel's surroundings.
Day 6: Georgetown to Kuntaur
On this day, we travel along the northern bank of the Gambia River to Kuntaur. Along the way, we cross the river on a local ferry and visit bird-rich areas. In the evening, discover the beautiful rice fields of Kuntaur.
Day 7: Red-Throated Bee-Eaters and Chimpanzee Project
In the morning, visit a colony of red-throated bee-eaters, a highlight for bird photographers. In the afternoon, take a boat trip to the Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Project, where you may also photograph hippos.
Day 8: Jajari and Morgan Kunda Lodge
Travel to the village of Jajari, stopping at bird hotspots along the way. After lunch at Morgan Kunda Lodge, enjoy an excursion in the surrounding area.
Day 9: Return to Tendaba Camp
Today, you will travel to the southern bank of the Gambia River and stay once again at Tendaba Camp. In the afternoon, explore one of the bird hides.
Day 10: Marakissa and Bird Hide in Killy
Travel to Marakissa and visit the bird hide in Killy, an excellent location for bird photography. In the afternoon, discover the surroundings of the camp.
Day 11: Wetlands of Marakissa
In the morning, explore the wetlands of Marakissa, an area rich in flora and fauna. In the afternoon, relax in the bird-friendly garden of the camp.
Day 12: Kartong and the Wetlands
Travel to Kartong, staying at Stala Lodge, a location near the border with Senegal. In the evening, take a trip to the wetlands.
Day 13: Kartong Observatory and Halahin River
In the morning, visit the Kartong Bird Watching Observatory. In the afternoon, enjoy a picturesque boat trip along the Halahin River, an idyllic spot for bird photography.
Day 14: Gunjur, Tanji Fish Market, and Tanema Creek Lodge
In the morning, visit the vibrant Tanji Fish Market and then travel to Tanema Creek Lodge. In the afternoon, take an excursion in the lodge’s surroundings.
Day 15: Kotu Bridge and Lamin Rice Fields
Depending on flight times, visit the iconic Kotu Bridge, a famous bird-watching location. If time permits, take one last excursion to the Lamin rice fields.
