On this tour, we visit different habitats and lodges compared to Tour 1. We never stay more than two days at the same lodge, in order to maximize opportunities for spotting and photographing a wide variety of bird species.
Both tours offer excellent and unique opportunities to explore the rich diversity of habitats in The Gambia, combined with stays in atmospheric and characterful lodges. From vast marshy wetlands to scenic riverbanks, from mangrove forests to open savannahs , each location reveals a different facet of the landscape. Although the regions differ geographically, there is considerable overlap in the bird species you’ll encounter. Yet each habitat hosts its own distinctive species and character, and the changing environments constantly provide new settings and fresh photographic opportunities. You'll have the chance to capture both familiar and new bird species in a variety of ways. Each lodge is strategically located within a specific ecosystem and serves as the perfect base for exciting explorations. For bird enthusiasts and photographers alike, this is a unique way to experience The Gambia’s rich birdlife from multiple perspectives and under ever changing conditions.
